PRODUCT CARE

Product Care

Good care helps refined pieces stay beautiful for longer. This guide explains how to store, clean and handle bags, shoes, watches and selected accessories purchased through Midu.

CARE PHILOSOPHY

Refined pieces last longer when they are handled with care.

Fashion items are often made with materials that react to water, sunlight, heat, friction, perfume, cosmetics and daily use. Even high-quality pieces can show wear if they are stored poorly or cleaned with unsuitable products.

This Product Care guide gives general care advice for bags, shoes, watches and accessories. It is intended to help customers reduce avoidable damage and keep items in better condition for everyday use.

Some products may have their own care labels, packaging notes or material-specific instructions. Where product-specific guidance is available, it should be followed first.

01

Store properly

Keep items in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, humidity and heat. Use dust bags, boxes or soft storage where suitable.

02

Clean gently

Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, alcohol-heavy cleaners or abrasive tools. Use a soft dry cloth for light surface care.

03

Handle with care

Protect items from water, colour transfer, sharp objects, heavy pressure, perfume, oils and makeup where possible.

BAG CARE

How to care for bags

Bags can be affected by pressure, colour transfer, moisture, direct sunlight and improper storage. To help maintain shape, avoid overfilling your bag or placing heavy objects inside for long periods.

When not in use, empty the bag, gently reshape it and store it upright or laid flat depending on the style. If a dust bag is provided, use it to protect the surface from dust and light friction.

Avoid placing bags on wet floors, rough surfaces or areas exposed to strong sunlight. Light-coloured bags should be kept away from dark denim or dyed fabrics that may transfer colour.

Bag care checklist

  • Store in a dust bag or clean breathable cover
  • Keep away from moisture, direct sunlight and heat
  • Avoid overfilling to protect the shape
  • Keep away from pens, makeup and loose liquids
  • Do not rub stains aggressively
  • Use professional cleaning for serious stains

SHOE CARE

How to care for shoes

Shoes naturally experience wear from walking, weather and surface contact. To reduce avoidable damage, avoid wearing delicate shoes in heavy rain, muddy areas or rough outdoor conditions unless the product is designed for that use.

After wearing, allow shoes to air naturally before storing them. Do not place them directly beside heaters or use high heat to dry them, as this may affect materials, glue, shape or finish.

For structured shoes, shoe trees or soft stuffing can help maintain shape. Always clean gently and avoid soaking the upper, sole or inner lining.

Shoe care checklist

  • Air shoes naturally after wearing
  • Keep away from heavy rain and deep water
  • Use soft brushing or cloth cleaning only where suitable
  • Do not machine wash fashion shoes
  • Use shoe trees or soft filling to maintain shape
  • Store pairs separately to avoid rubbing and colour transfer
Bags

Protect the shape

Store bags carefully and avoid overloading them. Pressure, heat and poor storage can affect structure over time.

Shoes

Respect the material

Different materials require different care. Avoid soaking, harsh brushing or using unsuitable cleaning products.

Watches

Avoid impact

Watches should be protected from strong impact, magnets, moisture and chemicals unless the product specification says otherwise.

WATCH CARE

How to care for watches

Watches should be handled carefully to protect the case, glass, strap and movement. Avoid dropping the watch or exposing it to strong impact, magnets, high heat or chemicals.

Unless a watch is clearly described as water-resistant for a specific level of use, avoid wearing it while showering, swimming or during water-heavy activities. Water resistance can also change over time due to wear, ageing seals or impact.

For metal straps, wipe with a soft dry cloth after use. For leather or fabric straps, avoid moisture, perfume, sweat build-up and direct heat. Professional servicing may be required for mechanical or battery-related issues.

Watch care checklist

  • Avoid strong impact or dropping the watch
  • Keep away from magnets and harsh chemicals
  • Check water resistance information before water exposure
  • Wipe the case and strap gently after use
  • Avoid spraying perfume directly near straps
  • Use professional servicing for internal issues

MATERIAL CARE

Different materials need different treatment.

Leather, suede, canvas, textile, metal, coated materials, plated hardware, rubber and synthetic materials can each react differently to water, friction and cleaning products.

A cleaning method that works for one material may damage another. Before using any cleaner, conditioner, spray or polish, check whether it is suitable for the material and test carefully in a hidden area where appropriate.

For delicate finishes, visible stains, deep marks or expensive items, professional cleaning or repair is usually safer than home treatment.

Leather

Keep it dry

Avoid soaking leather. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and store away from strong sunlight, heat and humidity.

Suede

Avoid water

Suede is sensitive to water and stains. Use a suitable suede brush only where appropriate and avoid liquid cleaners unless professionally advised.

Hardware

Reduce friction

Metal hardware may show scratches or finish changes over time. Avoid rubbing against rough surfaces or contact with perfume and chemicals.

WHAT TO AVOID

Small habits can prevent avoidable damage.

Many product issues come from daily habits rather than one single incident. Storing items in damp places, using strong cleaners, leaving products in direct sunlight or allowing colour transfer can cause damage that may not be reversible.

Avoid using washing machines, tumble dryers, bleach, alcohol-heavy cleaners, direct heat or rough brushes unless the product instructions clearly allow it.

Avoid these where possible

  • Long exposure to direct sunlight
  • Storage in damp or humid rooms
  • Strong chemical cleaners or bleach
  • Machine washing delicate fashion items
  • Direct heat from heaters or hair dryers
  • Contact with perfume, oil, makeup or ink
  • Heavy pressure, overloading or rough handling
